Jacksonville - A graveside service for William H. "Bill" McRae, age 88, of Dallas, is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Jarratt Cemetery in Jacksonville with Bro. David Hallum officiating.

William H. "Bill" McRae was born on June 1, 1937, and went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2026.

William H. "Bill" McRae, a native of Dallas, practiced law in Dallas, Texas, beginning in 1962. He was formerly the partner in charge of the Estate Planning, Probate, and Real Estate Section of Stroud & Smith, and practiced as William H. McRae, P.C., beginning in 1980. Bill received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Southern Methodist University in 1959 and his J.D. degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1962, where he was ranked second in his class. While at SMU, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, Barristers, and the Order of the Woolsack, predecessor to the Order of the Coif. His law practice reflected a broad commitment to serving individuals, families, and closely held business entities.

On March 20, 2019, Bill and Patricia (Tricia) Dudley McRae became one in marriage. Bill was the love of Tricia's life, and they shared eight wonderful years filled with food, fun, travel, faith, and deep companionship. Together they explored life as an adventure, enjoying cherished trips through the Texas Hill Country, relaxing days along the beaches they loved, and countless quiet moments that became just as precious. Through treatments, travels, laughter, prayer, and time spent side by side, they encouraged one another and built a peaceful and loving life together. Tricia is grateful for every moment she shared with the proud Scotsman who came into her life, stole her heart, and gave her memories she will carry always.

Bill is also lovingly remembered by his surviving children, Ashley McRae Ross, and husband, Malcom Ross, and Holland McRae; and brothers, Robert (Bob), and wife Terry, Thomas (Tom) McRae, and wife Vicki, whose lives remain part of the legacy of love, family, wisdom, and strength he carried throughout his life.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Colin McRae, and mother, Virginia Holland McRae.
