Jacksonville - Steven W. Tedder died at BS&W Heart Hospital in Temple, TX on April 15, 2026 surrounded by love from wife Jo Karr Tedder, stepdaughter Jody Karr, granddaughter Fiona Silaski, brother Richard Tedder and Robin, and his cousins Brooke Lunn and Bob. He was born on August 21, 1944. His parents, CW and Ermal Tedder, sister Carolyn Tedder, and brother Richard moved from the Barksdale Air Force Base area to the farm at "Gould", where he attended and graduated from Troup schools. Steve received both his Bachelors and later his Masters Degree in Biology from SFASU, after his schooling was interrupted by his service in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Through his various careers with Central Freight Lines, Swift Transportation, and the Texas Department of Corrections, many fellow employees came to know Steve as a quiet, confident gentleman who was always "squared away."

An avid and adventurous traveler, he loved the Grand Canyon, High Sierra area, and South Padre Island. He chose to live many years at Council Creek Village on Lake Buchanan where he enjoyed volunteering at the East Lake Buchanan Fire Department. After moving to the Austin area, Steve and Jo briefly moved to Tyler, where he was devoted to his aging mother, visiting with her daily until her passing in 2023.

A vociferous reader and researcher, his interests varied from Marcus Aurelius to Tao Te Ching to the Bible. Steve was fascinated by human nature and loved people, which always led to learning everyone's story. He loved gardening, hiking, and nature.

Steve was a kind, smart, and supportive partner to his wife Jo and a dear friend to his family and friends. He was extremely comfortable in his own skin. We all should aspire to make our way through life in such a confident, caring, and serene manner.
