Jacksonville - Russell Patrick Kennedy of Jacksonville, TX, was born Aug. 3, 1954, in Woodruff, WI, and passed away peacefully on Oct. 22, 2025, after his second battle with cancer.

Russell, the fourth-born child of Doreen and Warren Kennedy, was raised in Victoria, TX, where he graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1973. It was there he met his future wife, Susan Daly. The couple married on Aug. 19, 1978, and moved to East Texas where he graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Agriculture Science in Horticulture and Forestry in 1980. They eventually settled in Jacksonville where Kennedy had a 40-year career in the nursery business.

Russell was an avid outdoorsman, cyclist, runner and gentleman farmer. He was scoutmaster for his son Eric's troop and led the boys on many great scouting adventures. He never met a stranger and shared his exceptional sense of humor with all he met.

Russell is pre-deceased by his parents and brother, Sean. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Eric (Jayna), and granddaughters, Ansley, Emma and Astrid; his brother, Barry (Karen); his sisters, Candace Patterson (Riley), and Diedre Gunkle (Rick); his brothers-in-law, Tommy (Diane) Daly and Donald (Robin) Daly; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Kennedy and Ruth (Randy) Riepe; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
