Jacksonville - A graveside service for Roy Allen Barnes, 72, of Jacksonville, is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Jarratt Cemetery in Jacksonville with Bro. Kevin Gentry officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. at Autry Funeral Home.

Roy was born on November 8, 1952, in Jacksonville, to Jack and Thelma Estelle (Neeley) Barnes and went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2025, in Jacksonville.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Roy was a proud graduate of Jacksonville Independent School District, Class of 1971. Roy pursued his passion for business as the owner and operator of Cherokee Carbide, a successful local business he ran with dedication for 40 years. Later, he dedicated 10 years to serving with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Roy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on through the lives he touched.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jason Barnes and wife, Jennifer, of Whitehouse and Brent Barnes and wife, Amber, of Burleson; sisters, Bertha Allen, of Mexia, and Glenda Boswell, of Whitehouse; many grands and greats.
