Max  Shepherd
Max Shepherd born October 17, 1927 to Clarence and Grace Shepherd passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Jacksonville. He was 92 years old.
Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:00 am Friday November 22, 2019 at Cove Spring Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Dr. Rev. Nathan McBride and Rev. Don Harvey will officiate. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 22. 2019 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the Shepherd family from 9:00am until service time. Max will be laid to rest at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas.
Mr. Shepherd served in the U. S. Army as the lead mainline mechanic between WWII and the Korean war. Max was a member of Cove Springs Baptist Church and served as treasurer. He retired from the printing industry after working at Taylor Publishing from 1950 to 1971 and Shepherd Printing Corp. from 1971 up until he retired in 1991.
He also preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Shepherd and two brothers: James C. and Donald Ray Shepherd.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Gary Shepherd; daughters, Dr. June Shepherd, Sondra Landreth, and adopted daughter Sally Benton. He is also survived by grandchildren, Bret and Steph Talley, Jodie and Jerry Phifer, Spencer and Bresha Shepherd, Chuck and Kim Thompson and Bradley White; seven great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Bret Talley, Spencer Shepherd, Jerry Phifer, Don Shepherd, Ethan Hanks, Seth Phifer and Mike Terry with honorary pallbearers Charlie Walker and Gary Shepherd.
