Jacksonville - A memorial service for Margaret Elizabeth Ashford, 94, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Graham Hale officiating.

Margaret was born on October 3, 1931, to Raymond S. and Ellie Katherine Hicks (McElvoy)

s and went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2026.

Margaret spent most of her life being a homemaker. She grew up in Tennessee and in her early 20's moved to the Dallas area where she raised her children. After her husband's retirement, they moved to East Texas to enjoy a quieter life. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing tennis. While attending LSU, she assisted in teaching tennis students as well. She will be greatly missed by her large family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry David Ashford Sr; brothers and sisters and grandson, Jeremy Sherrill.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Jerry D. Ashford Jr. and wife, Jo of Sherman, Jody Ashford and wife, Barbara of McKinney, Cindy Lyn Cole and husband, Jay of Jacksonville, Tab Ray Ashford of Plano; grandchildren, Jennifer Houchins and husband, Wesley, Todd Oliver and wife, Ashley, Jandy Jace and Natasha, Cinnamon Ashford, Brooke Anson and husband, Chris, Jordan Ashford and wife, Char, Jeffrey Sherrill and wife Jodi, Bailey Holman and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Ty, Trenton and wife, Macy, Tanner, Brooklyn, Ainsley, Harlyn, Clayton, Olivia, Luke, Hayes, Dakota, Journey, and Justin; great-great-grandchildren, Hadlee, Wrenlee, and Maverick; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
