Jacksonville - Kenneth V. Jones, Sr. departed this life on June 22, 2025, age 79. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas, he is the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Henry V. Jones. A proud 1963 graduate of the historic Frederick Douglass High School where his father served as principal for 26 years. Upon graduation, he left Jacksonville to attend Hampton University and the Ohio State University. From the ROTC Program, he accepted a commission as a Captain in the U. S, Army where he served in the Medical Services Corp, both active and reserve duty, from which he retired. Preceded in death by his son, Kenneth V. Jones, Jr. (2023) and his sister Sandra Benita Jones (2007), he is survived by devoted daughter, Michelle Yvette Jones (Mackey) Long, Esq. of Nashville, TN; grandson, Mackey "Trey" Long, III; granddaughter, Madison Elyse Long; former wife, Mary Deloris Jones Johnson; first cousins Leandra (Hattie) Jones, Oscar Faye Branch Williams, and Alan (Charlotte) Branch who join a host of family and life-long friends to cherish his memory.
