JD Davenport Obituary

Jacksonville, TX - J.D. Davenport, of Jacksonville, Texas, passed away on the morning of January 7, 2026. Born to Jessie and Minnie Pearl (Jenkins) Davenport of Jacksonville on April 19, 1941, J.D. was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather who lived his life with a steadfast work ethic and an absolute commitment to God and to his family.

Married to his wife Karen Juanita for nearly 59 years, the two had nine children and worked tirelessly together on their family farm. One of 12 children himself, J.D. knew the value of teamwork and taught his children much about nature, and the land itself.

From the beginning, J.D. was no stranger to hard work. He grew up picking cotton and even worked for a period at the San Antonio Zoo. As a family man, J.D., Juanita, and the children hauled hay throughout East Texas.

Family was his passion, and his life was full of love from both his immediate and extended families. He felt truly himself when he was outdoors. Much of his time at home was spent raising cattle and growing crops. His other hobbies included fishing, playing the fiddle, while also being the absolute enemy of any weed on his property.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Minnie Pearl Davenport; siblings Lila Pearl Cameron, Billie Ruth Jones, Orene McIntyre, Geraldine Henderson, Jimmy Wayne Davenport, Jessie Howard Davenport, and Gary Hunter Davenport; grandsons David Davenport and Randy Davenport.

Left to cherish J.D.'s memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Juanita (McIntyre) Davenport; children Joe Dan Davenport, Joseph Davenport and wife Dana, Allen Davenport, Kevin Davenport and wife Rebecca, Anita Watson and husband Jamie, Patricia Jones and husband Royce, John Davenport and husband Duncan Watson, Kimberly Davenport, Benny Davenport and wife Samantha; siblings Johnny Davenport and wife Sue, Richard Davenport and wife Pam, Christine Davenport, Darlene Morris and husband Roy; grandchildren Meghan, Craig, Candice, Corey, Bryn, Khelynn, Forrest, Katherine, Brandi, Danielle, Sarah, Amy, Matthew, Brittany, Jennifer, Lonnie, Heather, Hannah, Alexia, Avery, Kayson and Ryder; 39 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
