James "Jim" Lee Summers II, age 73, died in Christ on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Jim was born on April 27, 1951, in Rusk, Texas, to the late Franklin and Sarah (Mettaeur) Summers. He graduated from Rusk High School in 1969. Jim graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1975 and Texas Christian University in 1979.
Jim joined the United States Air Force and served honorably from 1983 to 1995. He continued serving others as a dedicated and skilled operating room nurse (RN) for many years.
Jim married Lynn Ellen (Stumbaugh) Summers, in 1991. They shared thirty-four years of love, laughter, and adventure. Jim was an active member of Bullard Methodist Church in Bullard, Texas. He cherished time with family, enjoyed traveling and golfing.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lynn Summers of Flint, Texas; his daughter, Sarah Summers of Tyler, Texas; and his stepsons, whom he loved as his own, Richard James Elliott III (Crystal) of Lexington, Ohio, and Larry Elliott (Andrea) of Midland, Michigan. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Sally Coke of Frisco, Texas, and Suzy Valentine of Austin, Texas.
A memorial service will be held August 1st at 1:00 PM at Bullard Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701, or to Bullard Mission House & Mission Clinic, 226 S. Phillips St., Bullard, TX 75757.
We take comfort in knowing that Jim now rests in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though we grieve, we rejoice in the sure promise of resurrection and reunion.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
