James Daniel "J.D." Wooten Obituary
James Daniel "J. D." Wooten, 76, of Alto, the son of the late Oala (Macleroy) and L. C. Wooten, Sr. was born December 24, 1935 in Fasterill, Cherokee County, Texas. He passed away March 3, 2012 in a local hospital. J. D. was a Baptist preacher. He pastored churches in the Gulf Coast and East Texas areas. He loved to buy, sell and trade and was a flea market dealer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean (Black) Wooten of Alto, Texas; brother, Milton Wooten of Colmesneil, Texas; sisters, La Jean Osburn of Marlin, Texas, Wanda Nolen of Evadale, Texas and Tommie Lee Wilhite of Marlin, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Ervin DuBose; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe and Charlene Black and Ross and Brenda Black; and sister-in-law, Linda Black, all of Lufkin, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, J. D. was preceded in death by his brother, L. C. Wooten, Jr.; sister, Evelyn Arnett and brother-in-law, John Black. Pallbearers will be Mark DuBose, Clay DuBose, Dan Dubose, Angela Black, Rodney Black and Jeremy Chandler. Honorary pallbearers will be David DuBose, Tommie Wooten and Jimmy Wooten. Services for J. D. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ross Black officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
