Harry Chapman
Harry Chapman passed away from his earthly into the loving arms of Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2019. He was born on November 29, 1931 at the Mennonite Hospital in Beatrice, Nebraska. His father, H.R. Chapman, was a conductor on the Burlington Railroad and his mother, Mayme Chapman, was a stay at home mom.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 o'clock in the morning, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Visitation will begin at 9 o'clock prior to the service.
He attended school in Wymore, NE where on a Fall day in 1946 he met a pretty, auburn hair, freckle face, Lucille Jones. It was love at first sight. He graduated from high school in 1950. He entered the University of Nebraska where as an Air Force ROTC student, he became a member of General John J (Blackjack) Pershing's crack rifle drill unit.
On July 13, 1952 he married Lucille and in 1954 he went to work for the Store Kraft Mfg. Co. in Beatrice as a draftsman in the sales department. On October 11, 1962, their only son Greg, was born and his life was forever changed. He loved that boy like no other. Greg has truly been a wonderful son and a blessing to his parents.
In 1969, Lucille, Greg and Skip moved to Jacksonville, TX where he was the Southwest Regional salesman for Store Kraft. He continued at that job until 1985 when he became the Director of Purchasing for Bealls Department Stores. I was lucky to meet the lovely Chapman couple when they first came to Jville to work with Beall's. Stacey's dad, Frank, was a pilot for Beall's. What a sweet, down to earth couple. I remember Skip talking with such pride about his wife and son. Refreshing, down to earth, kind folks. Rest in peace dear Skip. My deepest sympathy to you, Greg, and family.
