Gladys M. Coates Lankford Moake was born February 9, 1943 in Franklin, Texas. Gladys entered her eternal reward on April 18, 2023. She is preceded in death by husband James Lankford, husband Rodger Moake, parents Stump and Bessie Coates, and siblings Gus Coates, Buford Coates, Clarence Coates, Byun Coates, Blanche Coates, Ruby Maddox, and Sadie Mettlin.
Gladys is survived by brother and sister in law Bobby and Martha Coates, sister Catherine Powell, son and daughter in law Jimmy and Debbie Lankford, son and daughter in law Steve and Theresa Lankford, son and daughter in law Kevin and Sheri Lankford, daughter and son in law Melisia and Dewayne Martin, as well as 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys was an active member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as an LVN at Rusk State Hospital for 20 years followed by 10 years at TDCJ. Gladys loved to garden and also enjoyed bird watching, sewing, canning, and visiting with friends and family.
Visitation will be held at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home on Friday April 21, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Funeral Service will be held at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday April 22, 2023 at 3 PM.
Burial at Union Grove Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Bryan Lankford, Josh Lankford, Josh Hedricks, Luke Martin, Andrew Martin and Shane Bobbitt.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dwain Coates, Terry Joe Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Sebastion Lankford, Lane Lavender, Bransen La Prairie, Jase Floyd, and Jud Lawson.
