Freda faced a lifelong battle with polio beginning at the age of seven. Despite enduring more than 25 surgeries throughout her life, she met each challenge with grace, courage, and a warm smile. She was among the first to receive certification from IBM. Freda was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Jacksonville where she spent many years volunteering. She was also a proud member of TOPS in Jacksonville. Freda had a love for travel and adventure, journeying across the United States. No matter where she went or what she faced, she brought joy to those around her.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Marvin Ray Bittner.

Left to cherish Freda's memory are her cousins, Maxine Henderson, Clifton Ralson, Ethel Thomas, and Charles Martin.
