Douglas "Dewayne" Womack Obituary

Jacksonville - A celebration of life service for Douglas "Dewayne" Womack, 77, of Jacksonville, Texas will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Autry Funeral Home, 1025 SE Loop 456, Jacksonville, Texas. The visitation will also be held at Autry Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm.

Dewayne graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1985. He was a teacher, driver's education instructor, and coach for Jacksonville ISD for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He was preceded in death by parents Ben and Jewel Womack of Tyler; brother James Womack of Tyler; sisters Lucille "Lucy" Hughes of Bullard, and Bennie Ruth Meshell of Gladewater.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 52 years, Beverly Walker Womack; son and daughter in-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Womack and children, Wayne and J.T. Womack of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Steven Remy and children, Sydney and Grayson Remy of McKinney. He is survived by nephews, Steve and Teresa Hughes of Whitehouse, Terry and Lynette Hughes of Bullard, Danny and Kimberly Brown of Lindale; Dennis Meschell of Bullard, and Donnie Brown; nieces Laurie and Bruce Ferrell of Flint and Donna Kaye Reid of Whitehouse, Deborah Renneker of Bullard and Donna and Bob Parks of Jacksonville. Dewayne and Beverly are members of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Pallbearers are JMS former players and family friends Dean Dublin, Greg Wade, Paul Travis, Kannon Hood, Josh Pruitt, and Nathan Acker

Interment at Old Palestine Cemetery, Alto, Texas.
