Military services for William Karl Helm, age 72, of Jacksonville will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Boren-Conner Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with Bro. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Jarratt Cemetery under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville. William “Billy” Karl Helm was born Sept. 9, 1943, in San Diego, CA to Samuel Karl and Catherine E. Hunt Helm. He served almost 24 years in the U. S. Air Force and later worked for 18 years as a correctional officer with the Texas Department of Corrections. He passed away on Nov. 16, 2015, at a Tyler hospital due to an accident. He is survived by his wife, Lora Helm of Jacksonville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Julia Crockett of El Paso and Karl and Katrina Helm of Gresham, three brothers, Ed Helm of Jacksonville, Gary Helm of Gallatin and Glen Helm of Tyler, three grandchildren, Koen Luke Helm of Gresham, James Crockett of El Paso and Elizabeth Crockett of El Paso, and an uncle, Jake Hunt of Tyler. A military honor guard will serve as pallbearers.
