Wanda's Story

A funeral service for Wanda Higginbotham, age 91, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 10 o'clock in the morning Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville with Rev. John Hawkins and Rev. Keith Hassell officiating. She will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Higginbotham passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Jacksonville.
Wanda was born March 12, 1925, in Jacksonville to Hugh & Jesse Jones.
Wanda was a member of the Dialville Methodist Church in Rusk. She was a wife, housewife, mother, grandmother, friend, and babysitter. She is a former employee of Discount City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Ernest Roy Higginbotham.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ernest Earl Higginbotham & wife Marcia of Jacksonville, Roy Wayne Higginbotham & wife Patricia of Forest Dale, AL; granddaughter, Meredith Grace Higginbotham Davis & husband Jeremy of Dallas; sisters, Gaynell Woods of Jacksonville, Jeanine Wood of Livingston, Gwendolyn Hassell & husband Edward of Rusk, Carolyn Halbert & husband James of Jacksonville; brothers, Stanley Jones of Jacksonville, H. V. Jones and wife Mary of Rusk; sister-in-law, Verna Mae George of Jacksonville; step-grandchildren, Amy Graves, Lindsay Graves, Kaitlin Randolph, Kali Randolph, several nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wood, Jerry Wood, Kenny Jones, Darrell Hassell, Mike Halbert, James Halbert, and Edward Hassell.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, and friends are cordially invited to visit with Wanda's family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Special thanks to the nurses, aides, and staff at Twin Oaks Nursing Home & Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care of our mother.
