Graveside service for Tommy Pitt, age 74, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon Friday, February 19, 2016, at Sand Flat Cemetery in Tyler, on CR 313 near the State Park, with Dr. C. R. Oliver officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Mr. Pitt went to be with the Lord Monday, February 15, 2016, in Jacksonville. He was born April 10, 1941, in Tyler to Ernest and Lovie (McDow) Pitt. Tommy was a member of River of Life Church in Rusk. He loved teaching about the Bible and had the great ability to quote scripture and passages by heart. He was an ag teacher for 25 years in Graham and Jacksonville ISD. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gail Pitt of Jacksonville; nieces, Zandi McCarroll and husband Brent of Little Elm, Kathy Garber and husband Tom on New Mexico, Selena Schoellman and husband Mike of Dallas; nephews, Steve Post of Rowlett, Ronney Ray and wife Kim of McKinney, Dennis Rice and wife Tamara of Caddo Mills; sister-in-law, Joe Ann Shieffied of Garland; step brothers, Glenn Roy Malone and wife Linda of Whitehouse, Ricky Malone of San Antonio, Bill Malone and wife Paula of Lindale; five great nieces and four great nephews . Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Tilton, Glenn Roy Malone, Duane Barber, Ricky Malone, Wayne Richards, and Larry McCarroll. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 18, 2016, and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
