A funeral service for Preston Hoyt Cessna, age 49, of Jacksonville, is scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon Thursday, March 3, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Doug Wintermute and Charles Dickerson officiating.
He will be laid to rest with military honors at Still Waters Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mr. Cessna passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016, in Brownsboro.
He was born August 14, 1966, in Beaumont.
Hoyt was a Methodist. Some of the many accomplishments that he did in school include state in carpentry as well as state in pole vault. At Jacksonville High School, he still holds the pole vault record and was elected most handsome by his peers. Hoyt was an outdoorsman and an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Preston and Darline Manuel and Robert and Lois Cessna.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Preston Cody Cessna and wife Katelyn of Tyler, and Payton Cade Cessna of Nacogdoches; mother of his children, Kathy Herrick and husband Tim of Jacksonville; parents, Donna and John Alexander of Jacksonville, and Wayne Cessna of Jacksonville; brothers, Robert Chad Cessna and wife Virgie of Burleson, Lance Alexander and wife Stacy of Magnolia, Mark Alexander and wife Tiffany of Jacksonville; a sister, Julie Terry and husband Todd of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chuck Dickerson, Craig Dickerson, Barry Murray, Brian Ridgley, Gavin McCarroll, John Colvin and Frank Barnett.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
