Visitation for Ottis Dwain (Jinks) Moore, 81, will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
Mr. Moore passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017, at his residence in Teague.
He was born in Cherokee County on August 5, 1935, to Lewis & Guydon Moore. Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Army from April 1, 1958 to March of 1960, and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, before Alaska became a state. He lived most of his life near Jacksonville, Texas, where he worked as a carpenter. He moved to Teague in the summer of 1999 and worked for Pharmacy Plus and the Teague Housing Authority. Mr. Moore was a "Jack of all trades" and his kids believed he could fix anything. He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, country music, rodeo, and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his children.
He is survived by one daughter, Amelia Moore Johnson & husband Greg of Teague; two sons, Michael "Lanky" Moore of Teague, and Lewis "Pete" Moore of Jacksonville; three sisters, Barbara Farmer and Carolyn Sue Couey both of Jacksonville, and Dorothy Long & husband Paul of Kemah; one sister-in-law, Sue Moore; seven grandchildren, Amber Gillet & husband Matthew of Teague, Cory Johnson of San Marcos, Christie Moore of Houston, Ashley Luker, Ryan Moore, and Kevin Moore all of Jacksonville, and Chelsie Moore of Katy; special friend, Rachel Raber; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews that he loved, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis O. and Luna Guydon Moore; one brother, Boyd Moore; and one brother-in-law, Earl Farmer.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Tecula Cemetery near Jacksonville. Bro. Joe Ballard of the Mixon Baptist Church will officiate.
