Mary's Story

JACKSONVILLE - Mary Loy Freeman Hudnall, age 89, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2017, in Jacksonville, Texas.
Graveside Celebration Service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 24th at Clyde Cemetery with a reception to follow at the First United Methodist Church in Clyde, Texas. John Freeman, nephew of Mary Loy, will officiate the graveside services. Pall bearers include Leslie Paul Hammett, Sterling Beck, Doug Barron, Mike Herring, Jimmy Paltjon and Stanley Bell.
Mary Loy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Shelly Clayton Hudnall, Jr., of Jacksonville, Texas; her daughter, Carol Ann Maxwell, of Odessa, Texas, her son, David Wayne Hudnall, of Franklin, Tennessee and her son, Donald Clayton Hudnall, of Frisco, Texas. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Lynn Millikan.
Mary Loy was born on May 11th, 1928 in Stephenville, Texas, to parents Iris Irene Watson Freeman and John Smith Freeman. She graduated from Texas Tech Technological College, Lubbock, Texas in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics with a teaching certificate. She worked as a substitute teacher and representative of Graybar Electric.
Mary Loy was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She married Shelly Clayton Hudnall on August 14, 1950 and they raised four children at their home, 2809 N. Washington, Odessa TX. Mary Loy was active in her church. Her interests included family activities, sewing, gardening and creating beautiful stained glass art. In her later years, she added to her hobbies, genealogy and recording family history through scrapbooking.
The family welcomes all who would like to attend and celebrate Mary Loy's life. The family would like to thank Senior Care of Jacksonville and Hospice of East Texas for the wonderful care they provided Mary Loy in her final days.
