Helena's Story

Helena Armena Glover, 74, of Jacksonville, Texas died Feb. 14, 2017 unexpectedly in her home.
She was born July 31, 1942, in Harriman, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, three brothers, her sister and her niece.
She is survived by her son, Roy Dean Glover Jr. of Sherman, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, John Travis Glover and Lisa Glover of Coppell, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip "Dean" Canup and Donna Canup of Jacksonville, Texas; brother, Bobby Canup of Craigmont, Idaho; her beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Glover of Coppell, Texas; close friend and traveling buddy, Bonnie Dosser of Maydelle, Texas; and numerous other special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Helena Glover was a veteran of the United States Army Woman's Army Corps (WACS) where she received the USWAC'S "Good Conduct Medal" before leaving the Army to pursue motherhood. She also worked for MHMR, working at Rusk State Hospital and Denton State School.
She was a breast cancer survivor and staunch supporter of the ACS "Relay For Life." She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, the Silver Sneakers, the Red Hat Society and was a proud Carnival Cruise Lines "Platinum Member." Helena lived life to the fullest through traveling, attending church, Red Hat luncheons and spending time with her family all across the U.S.
A private memorial will be held for family and friends once the spring flowers begin to bloom in one of her special places.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you do one or all of these things: Take a CPR class; Make a donation to the ACS in her memory and/or Thank a military veteran for their service.
She will be cremated and her ashes spread at her childhood home in Tennessee, her special place in the woods and across the Caribbean.
