Gloria Wynell (Terry) Evans, 83, passed away peacefully in Keller, TX on July 23, 2017. Gloria was born on February 28, 1934 in Jacksonville, TX.
Gloria was a registered nurse and therapist. She worked in the mental health field, working with children at Dallas MHMR for many years. She also worked at Rusk State Hospital, from where she retired.
Gloria enjoyed traveling and exploring different parts of the world. She was an excellent artist and an amazing painter. Gloria was always fascinated with history and genealogy. Gloria was instrumental in the dedication and research for the historical marker in Corine, TX and was very active in different historical groups throughout the years. She was also a sports fan, supporting her favorite teams and enjoyed watching grandchildren play.
Gloria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Billy Savage, daughter and son-in-law, Renee and John Barker, son and daughter-in-law Raymond and Valerie Evans, son-in-law, Timothy Walker, as well as all of her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gertrude Terry; her brother, Ray Terry, who is survived by his wife and Gloria's dear sister-in-law, Ann Terry; her former husbands, Sydney Loyd Evans, and Roy Pugh, as well as her daughter, Robyn Walker.
The family wishes to thank Gloria's caregivers at Brookdale Hospice and Hidden Oaks Assisted Living.
Funeral services are to be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church in the community of Corine, Jacksonville, TX. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. The funeral will be after visitation at 10:00 with graveside services immediately following. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Walker, Jr., Tim Walker, Mike Terry, Aaron Del A Torre, Alex Del A Torre and Mathew Barker.
A Gloria W. Evans medical memorial scholarship fund will be set up in the future.
