Funeral services for Dr. Wayne Ralston, age 89, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, February 6, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with with Rev. Doug Wintermute and Rev. Barbara Hugghins officiating. He will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Dr. Ralston passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Tyler. He was born July 1, 1926 in Ellis County, Texas to W.C. and Margaret Lou (Hawks) Ralston. Dr. Ralston graduated from Southern Methodist University and Southwestern Medical School. After graduation from Southwestern, he served in the United States Navy for two years as a ship doctor in Korea. Directly following his military service, he returned to Denver General Hospital for one year internship, followed by a three-year residency at the VA Hospital in McKinney, TX. He was a radiologist at Travis Clinic and Nan Travis Hospital (ETMC) for 37 years. He was a member of the American College of Radiology, Texas Medical Association, Cherokee County Medical Association and American Medical Association. He was a past member of the Jacksonville ISD school board. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Billy C. and Bobby L. Ralston. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dona Ralston of Jacksonville; sons, David Ralston and wife Lana of Plano, Paul Ralston of London, England, Tim Ralston and wife Ming of Kensington, MD, John Ralston and wife Valerie of Austin. He is also survived by his grandchildren J.P., Nick, Addison, Stephen, Sean Ralston; and several nieces and nephews, Mike Ralston, Cathy Sprinkle, Steve Brunson, Cindy Wilson, Susan Brunson, Terri Golden, Robin Ralston, and Mona Barlow. Pallbearers will be J.P. Ralston, Nick Ralston, Charles Creed, Steve Brunson, Dick Stone, Brian Holcomb and Dr. James Low. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Ralston, Addison Ralston, Sean Ralston and Bill Marable. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 5, 2016 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
