Funeral services for Don "Pops" Cornelius, age 61, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon, Monday, March 7, 2016, at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Dr. Darin Wood and Jerome Smith officiating.
Pops passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, in Jacksonville.
He was born July 19, 1954, in Fort Worth.
Pops retired from AT & T after 37 years as a facility manager for most of East Texas. He was a commercial project manager for Suddenlink beginning in April 2014 until the present. He served as a deacon for Central Baptist Church, and a member of the adult Sunday school class.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carolyn "Gogo" Armstrong Cornelius, of Jacksonville; his mother, Grace Cornelius, of Ft Worth; son, Matt Cornelius and wife Jaime of Tyler; daughters, Katy Murrah, and husband Wes of Blanco, and Patti King and husband Bradley of Holloman, NM; brother, Ken Cornelius and wife Mary of Colleyville; and grandchildren, Brandon, Alaina, Elizabeth, Caleb, Rebecca, Hannah, Clayton, Joshua, Logan, and Christopher.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Central Baptist Church, Jacksonville.
Rather than customary condolences, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church Building for the Future Fund, 1909 E. Rusk Street, Jacksonville, TX 75766.
