Carolyn's Story

Funeral services for Carolyn Jean Durrett Thompson, age 67, of Maydelle, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Maydelle First Baptist Church with Rev. James Blaylock, Rev. Brad Turlington and Rev. Rusty Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Ms. Thompson passed away May 14, 2016 at her residence. She was born November 16, 1948, in Jacksonville, TX to the late Thomas Jefferson and Ethel Marie Fletcher Durrett. Ms. Thompson was a resident of Maydelle her whole life and graduated from Maydelle High School. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Texas State Railroad in 2014 after 20 years of service, was a member of the Maydelle First Baptist Church and Tails Creek Hunting Club in Maydelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Johnny Thompson, brother Joe Cecil Durrett, father-in-law, John W. Thompson, sister-in-law, Jean Durrett, brother-in-law, Paul Thompson. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Beryl Thompson of Maydelle, Thomas Roy and Rachel Thompson of Maydelle, Arthur Thompson of Maydelle, grandchildren, Benjamin Thompson of North Richland Hills, TX, Alexandria Kadlecek and husband Kevin of Maydelle, Chase Thompson, Dylan Thompson, Nolan Thompson, Wes Thompson, Taylar Thompson, Leah Thompson, Trey Thompson Rayden Thompson all of Maydelle, mother-in-law, Victoria Thompson of Rusk, four sisters-in-law, Christa Durrett of Arlington, TX, Cindy Goff and husband Carl of Alto, TX, Vicki Bruce and husband Kenny of Fairfield, California, Sue Waitz and husband Joe of Richmond, Virginia, special niece and caregiver, Donna Walton of Maydelle and a special thank you to Jennifer Turlington with Heart to Heart Hospice.
Pallbearers will include Ben Thompson, Chase Thompson, Dylan Thompson, Nolan Thompson, Wes Thompson, Trey Thompson, Rayden Thompson, Kevin Kadlecek, Patrick Ezell and Jason Kellis. Honorary pallbearers will be Alexandria Kadlecek, Leah Thompson, Taylar Thompson and the Texas State Raillroad Track Crew. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at the funeral home.
