Text size

Martha Ann Collie Clark Garner, age 83, passed away June 3, 2016, at Bonner Street Plaza after a long, valiant battle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born in Frankston, Texas, to John H. and Alta Collie on April 10, 1933, and lived most of her life in Jacksonville, Texas. She briefly lived in Michigan after marrying Gary Clark, deceased. She later married Thurston (Rusty) Garner, also deceased. She worked at Winn-Dixie Grocery (Buddies) for a number of years.
Mrs. Garner was a charter member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, and an active member when her health still allowed. At the same time, she was an active volunteer for H.O.P.E., where she also served on the Board of Directors.
Mrs. Garner was a very creative and accomplished seamstress. Decorating her home in country style was another talent she used well. She also loved to collect antiques, and, at one point, traveled far and wide to gather these and other decorative items for her home. She looked forward to family gatherings and sampling all the food.
Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers John Collie and Oliver Collie, and nephew Freddie Collie.
Survivors are sons, Mike Clark, Danny Clark and Jeff Clark; grandsons, Jonathan Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, Bryce Clark, Carson Clark, Hunter Clark and wife Bailey, Joshua Clark and Taylor Clark; granddaughter, Emily Clark and two great-granddaughters.
She also is survived by sisters Beth Ballew Beasley and Margaret Hightower; she also leaves behind nephews Jim Hightower and wife Rita, Billy Hightower, John David Collie and wife Alice, Mark Collie and wife Lara; nieces June Ballew Pruett and husband James, Linda Ballew De Forke, Kathy Collie Diduch and husband Dave, Kim Hightower Fade and husband Dennis, and several great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Bonner Street Plaza for their care and love. Memorials maybe made to H.O.P.E., Inc.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
