Funeral Services for Victoria "Gigi" Thompson, 97 of Rusk, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2018 at Sardis Baptist Church, under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with Bro. Brad Turlington officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis-Edgefield Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson passed away peacefully February 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born January 31, 1921 in Sardis, Texas to the late Charlie and Margaret Berry. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church having been a lifelong Baptist. She loved cooking and was known for her peach cobbler and fried pies. She loved to sew and everyone knew about her embroidery. She enjoyed time playing games and crosswords and caring for her family. She had a garden that supplied her with lots for canning and cooking. She just loved life.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband, John W. Thompson, daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Joe Durrett, son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Carolyn Thompson, son, Paul Thompson, and Granddaughter, Lorna Rosales.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sue and Joe Waitz of South Riding, Virginia, daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Kenny Bruce of Fairfield, California, daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Carl Goff of Rusk, Texas, 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 8 great- great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joe Durrett, Vernon Thompson, Wayne Thompson, Rob Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Arthur Thompson, Michael Kisner, and Austin Walton.
Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
