Truiett Yancey, beloved husband and father, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Reklaw.
Truiett was born March 12, 1932 in Wichita Falls, TX to Marion and Iva "Lila" (Nail) Yancey.
He married Delma Shaw on November 23, 1982 in Angleton, TX. Truiett proudly served his county in the US Navy. During that time, he received many medals including the Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation. The most significant duty assignment given to him was the East Coast of Korea Destroyer Division 52 on the USS Brinkley Bass. After his service, he was employed by numerous companies in Houston as a computer programmer. He was then employed by Shell Oil Co. for over 17 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alton, Marion, Odell and Jerry Yancey; and sisters, Imogene Searle and Margaret Isabell Yancey.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Delma Yancey of Reklaw; children, Michael Yancey of Houston and Ray Austin Watson and wife Leslie of Burleson, Debra Cox of Arlington and Terry Watson wife Sonia of Rosharon. Siblings are Ralph "Buck" Yancey, Max and Helen Yancey, all of Wichita Falls, Betty and Bill Tullos of Mineola, Willie and Carolyn Yancey of Bellingham, Washington, Sherry and Gerald Cumby of Burleson and Sarah and Mike McCoy of Corsicana. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 9, 2019 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the Yancey family from 5 to 7 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
A funeral service is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Friday, May 10, 2019 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Bro. Jerry Bennett will officiate. Mr. Yancey will be laid to rest at Meador Cemetery in Jacksonville.
