A funeral service for Ronnie Houghton, age 73, of New Summerfield, is scheduled at 10 o'clock in the morning Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Dr. Edwin Crank officiating. He will be laid to rest at New Emmaus Cemetery in New Summerfield.
Mr. Houghton passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Troup.
Ronnie was born July 23, 1943 to Boyd and Erma (Brown) Houghton.
He served in the US Army from 1966-1968 then worked for Texas Comptroller from 1968-1975. He helped open the Cherokee Savings in 1975 then worked in the banking industry in the Dallas area until he moved back to East Texas 2002. He received a BBA degree from Stephen F. Austin and retired as Vice President of Franklin Bank.
Ronnie was a member of the Lions Club, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and a board member of New Emmaus Cemetery Association. He loved coaching kids in baseball and other sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Deenan Houghton of Troup; sons, Keven Houghton and wife Kerry of Royse City, Todd Houghton and wife Cindy of New Summerfield. There are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Huddleston, Trenton Houghton, Jay Hartley, Ricky Jones, Chris Foley, Terry Kendall and honorary pallbearers Ethan Houghton and Dylan Houghton.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
