Funeral services for Roger Paul Waggoner will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville with Rev. Lester Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at the Larissa Cemetery.
Roger was born November 28, 1944, in Houston, Texas to Martin "Buddy" C. and Mary Louise Smelley Waggoner. He had lived in Lufkin for the past six months having resided in Jacksonville for many years prior to moving to Lufkin. He was a member of the Cove Springs Methodist Church. He was a longtime local athletic supporter of the high school and college teams. He was well known around Jacksonville by everyone as "Coach". Roger went to be with his Lord on June 8, 2017, while in the hospital in Lufkin.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and David Whiddon of Lufkin, nieces, Amanda Martin and her husband, Ryan Martin of Crockett and Anna Whiddon of New Caney, great nephews, William Ryan Martin of Crockett, TX and Mason Martin of Crockett, TX, great-great niece, Alice Martin of Crockett, TX and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be David Whiddon, Ryan Martin, William Ryan Martin, Rex Nerren, Patrick Burton, and Donald Tant.
Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday before services at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville, TX.
