Robin Dewayne Best of Jacksonville, Texas went home to the arms of Jesus on August 9, 2019 at age 58.
Robin was born to Rev. Lee Ray Best and Ethel Best Chapman in Crane, Texas on June 28, 1961. As a teenager, Robin discovered his beautiful voice and his musical ability to play the piano by ear. Robin sang in the Jacksonville High School Choir placing numerous times in the Area, Regional, and State UIL Solo and Ensemble competition. Robin used his musical abilities to perform in many churches in East Texas singing as a member of the New Life Ministerial's. His musical talent also led him to Stephen F Austin University in Nacogdoches where he received a Bachelor's degree in music. He then attended East Texas State University in Commerce where he received a Master's degree in clinical psychology.
After a career in counseling Robin wanted to touch more lives with God's love so he completed his second Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas in Tyler. He was employed by Pediatric Home Health of Tyler as a pediatric nurse. Robin has written many articles for numerous newspapers including the Jacksonville Daily Progress and more recently he was a sports writer for the Cherokeean Herald. He loved attending local football games with his dad to record all the stats for his sports articles.
Robin met and married his wife beautiful Dawn Ann Roberts also of Jacksonville, on March 2, 1999. The couple have three amazing children Summer Ann Best, a Sophomore student at Jacksonville Baptist College, Robin Christian, and Gabriel Lee.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving, dad, brother, and son, Robin loved serving as music director for St. Johns Methodist Church in Jacksonville and First United Methodist Church of New Summerfield. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him through his incredible musical talent.
Robin joins his grandparents Albert Allen and Tressie Lee Chapman and Raymond Lou and Alcie Lee Best in Heaven. He is survived by his wife Dawn, his three children Summer Ann, Robin, and Gabriel, his Parents Rev. Lee Ray and Ethel Lee Best of Alto, his sister Barbara and her husband Rev. David Marchbanks, sister Darla Kay, brother Rev. Mark Best and his wife Pam, his uncle David Chapman and wife Latisha, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and fellow church members.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Rev. Dale Jamerson will officiate. Visitation with the family will begin at 2. Robin will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David J. Marchbanks, David W. Marchbanks, Matthew Marchbanks, Dan Fleischman, John David Aultman, Doug Curry, Nathan McBride and Mike McBride.
Exodus 23:20 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared."
