A funeral service for Robert "Bob" Thompson, age 74, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 10 o'clock in the morning Friday, March 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Mixon with Rev. Chris Cliborn officiating. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mr. Thompson passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Jacksonville.
Robert was born November 30, 1942 in Bay City, TX to Lester and Dorothy (Andrews) Thompson.
He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a correctional officer. He was currently employed by JISD as a bus driver who was known as "Driver Bob".
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Murvel Thompson; sons, Randy Thompson, Russell Thompson and wife Susan, Rodney Thompson, Ken Jacobs and wife Sheila; daughter, Kathy Clark and husband Richard; brothers, Don Thompson, Kenny Thompson and wife Susan; and sister, Jean Gandy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brady and wife Keli, Brianna and husband Austin, Matthew, Rowdy, Ruston, Rebecca, Thad, Jason, Mark; great-grandchildren, Cataleya and Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Foster, Rowdy Thompson, Ruston Thompson, Brady Jacobs, Thad Clark and Steve Peters.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 9, 2017 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
