A memorial funeral service for Robert Michael Carr "Bob" age 65, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Church of Christ in New Summerfield, Texas with Pastor Friend Frankie Enloe officiating. Family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville.
Bob passed away at his sister's home, with hospice care on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Anna, Texas after fighting a hard battle to cancer. Robert was born July 24, 1952 in San Diego, California.
Bob was of the Christian faith. In high school, Bob was athletic and enjoyed playing basketball. He is remembered by his team mates for the best "sudden stop" jump shot. As a young man, Bob enjoyed his boat and fishing at the lake. He loved throwing horseshoes. He was a competitive golf player and enjoyed going to the casinos to try his luck at the tables. Bob took great pride and retired out of his career as a Construction Superintendent of many years. It was very important to him to always treat his employees with great respect and in return was respected by those employees on his jobs. He loved his home and was most entertained by making improvements to it for having large family and friend gatherings. Bob had a passion for music, and played instruments by ear. He loved singing and playing his piano. He was a soft-hearted man who loved being outdoors enjoying nature and watching and talking to the wildlife. His family, dear friends, all children, music and pets were the most important blessings in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Ruth Jeanne (Lloyd) Carr; a child he loved, Ryan Douthit and fur friend Gus.
Left to cherish his memory are a child he loved, Heather Douthit Davis; his sisters, Pam Miller and husband Ronny Miller of Anna, Texas, Cathy Uhl and husband, Bill Szybowski, of Cabot, Arkansas; brothers, Dennis Carr and friend, Marlys Taylor of McKinney, Texas, and Phillip Carr of Sherman, Texas. Best Bud and friend, Jim & Shonda Potter of Jacksonville; long time special loving friend and soul mate, Shelia McCutcheon Jacobs and her husband Kenneth (Jake) of Jacksonville, Texas, He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews and best fur friends, Hannah, Diva, Spooky, Pig, Macy, Chica and Axel.
Pallbearers are Andrew Carr, Steven Carr, Jonathan Davis, Aaron Davis, Kenneth Uhl, Jason Bell, Travis Fogle, Jake Jacobs, and honorary pallbearer in spirit, Jim Potter.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to the City Jacksonville, Texas Animal Shelter or to the Church of Christ in New Summerfield, Texas. Please note Robert Carr memorial in the memo.
