A funeral service for Richard Abna, age 71, of Whitehouse, is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Mt. Selman Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bowen officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. He will be laid to rest in Bullard Cemetery.
Mr. Abna passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Tyler.
Richard was born December 4, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas to Joe and Willie Frances (Griffin) Abna.
He was an assistant production manager for Western Foundary. He was shipping and receiving department head at Loggins Meat Co. form 1977-1991. He also worked as operations manager for ETCO-Janitorial Services.
He was a member of Mt. Selman Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pat and Michael Abna; and half-sisters, Nellie Jo Steed and Betty Snow.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Linda Abna of Whitehouse; son, Joey Abna and wife Gwen of Whitehouse; daughters, Jennifer Fernandez and husband Roland of Whitehouse; Alicia Whetsell of Jacksonville; sister, Jocie Lewis and husband Harold of Bullard; half-brother, Frank Snow and wife Jeanie of Tyler. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly, Danica, Jacob, Jordan, Hanna, Caleb, Lacey and Caitlyn; one great-granddaughter, Brynlee; several nieces and nephews; and loved by numerous extended children.
Pallbearers will be Jason Bryant, Jacob Fernandez, Chance Bielss, Ean Whetsell, Jimmy Eubanks and Greg Jenkins. Honorary pallbearer is Caleb Fernandez.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, January 14, 2017 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Richard's family from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
