Philip Charles Whitaker
Funeral services for Philip 'Wolf' Charles Whitaker, 58, of Jacksonville are scheduled for Saturday, September 21, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. Internment will follow at the Ragsdale Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Philip Charles Whitaker, son of the late R.B. Whitaker and Shirley Whitaker, was born November 15, 1960 in Jacksonville, Texas. God called him home on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
Philip attended Mount Haven public school, Jacksonville public schools and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1978. He united with the New Prospect Baptist Church at an early age, where he remained a member until his death.
Shortly after high school, he began working for OXY offshore drilling company. He worked in this field for almost 30 years until the economy necessitated a career change. At the time of his death, he was employed by Arnold Trucking.
Philip was united in marriage to Patsy Knowlton Whitaker. Their family was made complete when God blessed them with their son, Joshua.
"Wolf" as he was affectionately known, loved the country life, the Jacksonville Indians, Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas A&M Aggies. His love of photography was also evident as he spent countless hours on the sidelines at sporting events and at family gatherings capturing priceless moments.
Mr. Whitaker is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. R.B. Whitaker and Shirley Jean Whitaker and a sister, Sandra Blondell Whitaker.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories: Wife, Patsy Whitaker; son, Joshua D. Whitaker; three brothers and one sister, Gregory (Deborah) Whitaker, Brenda (John) Robertson, Richard (Evelyn) Whitaker, and Paul (Michelle) Whitaker, all of Jacksonville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Whitaker Jr., Johnathan Robertson, D'Marcus Whitaker, Fredrick Whitaker, Aaron Whitaker, Joseph Whitaker and Richard Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim McRae, Matt Montgomery, Jay Neal, Mike Turney and Steve Watson.

I met Wolf when I was a Freshman at LMC in 1979. We became instant friends. We remained friends for more than 40 years. My two sons referred to him as Uncle Wolf. We might not talk for a few months or longer but it always felt as though we had just parted company and took up right where we left off. I considered him one of my best friends! He will be greatly missed!
Much love to his family! You’re in my thoughts and prayers! 💙🙏
