Funeral services for Peggy Mullinix, 73, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, in the chapel of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens.
Peggy Mullinix was born October 10, 1942, in Dallas, to Samuel Guy and Nora Elizabeth Barton. She was a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, Jacksonville Baptist College and Stephen F. Austin State University, where she majored in education and was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society.
She taught English and Spanish for 30 years at Jacksonville High School. A woman of great faith, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for more than 50 years and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter, Elaine Mullinix.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Thomas E. Mullinix of Jacksonville; daughter, Elise Mullinix of Tyler; sister, Virginia Mehaffie of Ruidoso, N.M.; niece, Megan Comiskey of Lubbock; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Frank Rogers, Joe Don Watson, David Watson, Michael Moore, Larry Garner and James Cunningham.
Honorary pallbearers are Vaughn family cousins, Shannon and Sue Ezell of Jacksonville, Willing Workers Sunday School class of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Dr. Jay O. Franklin of Dallas, and Charles "Red" Roper of Jacksonville.
