Paul N. McMillan, 91, formerly of Reklaw, Texas, passed away on May 22 after a brief illness.
He resided in Luling, Texas, the past four years.
He was born December 19, 1924 in Carmona, Texas, to Douglas H. and Lela McCormack McMillan. His family moved to the Reklaw area when he was a young boy, and he attended school in Rusk.
He married Dorothy Jo Bowling of Reklaw in 1943.
Paul served in the United States Navy during World War 11 and was stationed in Texas at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station as an aircraft structural maintenance and repair technician petty officer. Settling in Corpus Christi after the war, he became a master plumber and electrician, and in 1963, moved to Victoria as a construction contractor. In 1974, Paul returned to Reklaw, going to work for Texas Power and Light at the plant on Lake Striker, from which he retired in 1989.
He was a very talented plumber, electrician mechanic and carpenter, often spending his spare time installing, building or modifying whatever was required to get a job done for himself, as well as friends and neighbors.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to putter in a small garden with his berry vines and fig trees. He was involved in the Boy Scout organization and served as a Baptist deacon for many years. He was member of the McNeil Baptist Church in Luling.
