Melvin Ray Wright, 69, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, in Rusk, Texas. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, on Aug. 15, 1949, to Robert and Mary Wright.
He leaves his children, Shane and wife Mary Wright of Jacksonville; Christine and husband Paul Adams of Tyler; and Cobey and wife Crystal Lofton of Rusk; sisters, Marie Martin, and Wanda and husband Ronny Akins; a brother, Bob Wright; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his son Scotty Ray Wright, brother Milton Wright, and his parents.
Melvin was a hard-working, God-loving man who never met a stranger. He had many hobbies. He was a true cowboy who loved working with leather and guns, but most of all, he was a God-loving and -fearing man who who always wanted to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at New Life Church, 204 Bellaire, in Jacksonville, Texas, on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at 10 a.m.
A private burial will follow at a later date.
