Marguerite's Story

A funeral service for Marguerite McLeod, age 96, of Jacksonville, is scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Robert Burns and Rev. Dale Jamerson will officiate. She will be laid to rest at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield.
Marguerite passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Jacksonville. She was born December 14, 1920 in Reklaw to Ross and Alma Matteson Bowling.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Hubert McLeod; son, Gene McLeod; brothers, Oswald, Haskell and Clyde "Pete" Bowling; sisters, Oweta Murphy and Rossie Tipton; and a great grandson, Kyle McLeod.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenny McLeod and wife Patsy of Jacksonville, Curtis McLeod and wife Barbara of Round Rock; brother, Marshall Bowling of San Antonio; sister, Maxie Brown of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Jackie Bowling of Mineola and a very dear friend, Bobbie Russell of New Summerfield. She is also survived by eight grandchildren including Tiffany Gibson and husband Kevin, Kent McLeod, Tim McLeod and wife Melissa, Casey McLeod, Gene McLeod and wife Michelle, James Walker and wife Penny, Amy Walker Johnson and husband Dan and Robin Walker Batton and husband Brian. There are 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gene McLeod, Kent McLeod, Justin Rodriguez, Dillion Rodriquez, Larry Bowling, Michael Bowling, Dewey Tipton, Hershel Tipton and Kevin Gibson.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Marguerite's family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Gardendale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Jacksonville as well as Hospice Plus of Tyler.
Rather than customary condolences, memorials may be made in memory of Marguerite to the Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Highway 16 N., Medina, Texas 78055 or the charity of choice.
