Margaret's Story

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Butler Bradshaw, 91, will be Saturday July 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Interment will be at Jarrett Cemetery. On July 28, she was carried on Angels' wings to be greeted at Heaven's gate by her Savior and Lord Jesus.
Margaret was born March 5, 1925 in Liberty County, Texas, to Ben and Myrtis Butler.  Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family,   In March of 1946, Margaret married, Joe Bradshaw.  She moved to Corpus Christi, with Joe and his two children they added two more children to their family while living there. 
The family lived in Corpus Christi until 1959, when they moved to California.  Margaret worked at Montgomery Ward for several years and remained an active member of the community, volunteering with the Cub Scouts and PTA. She was also very involved in their San Leandro church, After Joe's retirement in 1973, Margaret, Joe and their youngest daughter moved to Jacksonville. Margaret went to work for the food service department in the school district. At the age of 53, she earned her GED while attending night school. She subsequently served as school cafeteria manager at East Side Elementary School. In 1994, after her husband of 46 years death, Margaret spent the years in Missouri and Georgia with her youngest daughter and grandchildren.  In 2009 with health issues, Margaret moved to Vista Continuing Care in Pasadena.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe; son Bob Bradshaw, grandson Bo Bradshaw; granddaughter Belinda Carpenter; brothers Melvin Butler, James Benjamin Butler, Merle Butler, Dennis Butler, Curtis Butler, and her loving sister Dorothy Spivey.
Left to miss her laugh, generous spirit and Godly guidance are her children, Lynda and husband Terry Mills of Pasadena,; Jan and husband Mark Bolton of Sugar Hill, GA; Billy Joe Bradshaw and wife Barbara of Jacksonville and Patsy Chastang of Houston, She also leaves behind grandchildren B.J. Mills and wife Amber Moon; Heather Jones; Josh Jones and wife Abby, Hannah Bolton, Grace Bolton; Cindy Rawlings; Karen Kulhanek and husband Jerry; and Kenneth Bradshaw. Margaret was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Joseph Carpenter; Steven and Travis Rawlings; Austin Kulhanek; Alice Marie Bradshaw; Skye Bradshaw and Jordan Bradshaw; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. 
Lynda and Jan would like to express their appreciation to Nurses and Staff at Vista Continuing Care in Pasadena & Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and assistance.  
They also extend special gratitude to Margaret's niece Faye Hosea and husband Tom, whose regular visits to her throughout the years in Georgia and to Vista always brought Margaret great joy.  
The family will receive friends at Autry Funeral Home on Friday, July 29, between 5-7 p.m.  
In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509 New York, NY 10018
