A funeral service for Lucile M. Havens, age 92, of Jacksonville is scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning Monday, May 23, 2016, at Beall Chapel Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Robert Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Moore Memorial Garden, in Arlington, Texas at 2:00 in the afternoon.
Mrs. Havens passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, in Tyler.
She was born August 27, 1923, in Hoskins, Nebraska to Harry J. and Metta (Wiedeman) Bernhardt.
Lucile was a member of Beall Chapel Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was a minister's wife, caregiver and homemaker and enjoyed knitting sweaters that were distributed throughout the world. She performed volunteer work through her church at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Rusk, and was previously associated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
Mrs. Havens spent her life serving the Lord, her family and the community. She loved visiting with her family, including her grandson David Wilson and great-grandchildren Josh, Jaimi and Jennifer Hulstine and their family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Albert H. Havens; sons, Richard Dean and Paul Stephen Havens; son-in-law, Danny K. Wilson; and a brother, Vernon Bernhardt.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy Wilson of Jacksonville; son, Jim Havens and wife Cookie of Needville, Texas; her granddaughter, Kathy Nelson and husband Richard of Diboll, Texas; 11 other grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, with family receiving friends at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Memorials may be made in honor of Lucile to Beall Chapel Baptist Church, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Drive, Tyler, Texas 75701.
