A graveside service for Louis E. Stockton, age 91, of Mixon, is scheduled at 11 o'clock in the morning Friday, December 9, 2016 at Mixon Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mr. Stockton passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 surrounded by his family in Jacksonville.
Louis was born January 4, 1925 in Mixon to Sam and Nellie Stockton.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was also a Merchant Marine. Louis was a sailor and worked in the Houston shipyards. He worked for R. G. LeTourneau as a steel foreman for 35 years. He loved being a tree farmer, and loved working the land at the family homeplace in Mixon. He was a member of First Mixon First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ronell Crawford Stockton.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Deborah Davis and husband Rev. Lowrey; his sons, Michael Stockton, Greg Stockton and wife Gayle, and Joe Stockton and wife Robbyn, all of Mixon. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 8, 2016 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
