Lester Wade Kerr Jr., 82, of Longview finished his fight on February 14, 2018. He was born on January 5, 1936 in Longview, Texas, to Lester and Margaret Kerr. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a Bachelor of Science. He began his career with Mobile Oil in Dallas then moved to Jacksonville to become comptroller of Bealls Department Stores. He was respected as a man of integrity by all.
Besides his love of nature and quiet times fishing, Wade enjoyed golf, playing moon with his friends and most of all, playing gin with his daughters. That is where his quick wit really shined.
Wade was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wade Kerr, and is survived by his wife, Nelda, his daughters, Pam Murphy and husband Mike of Tyler, and Shelly Bloom and husband Barton of Leawood, Kansas. Wades, Poppies, grandchildren Nicole Stephenson and husband Dr. Trent Stephenson of Dallas, Tx, Ryan Murphy and wife Cyndil Murphy of Kingwood, TX, and Tyler, Alex, Brooke and Shelby Bloom of Leawood, Kansas. Also, four great grandchildren, Leah and Thomas Murphy, Kingwood, TX and Alyssa and Ames Stephenson of Dallas, TX.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Wades caregiver, Joanna Flores, who is the epitome of compassion! There is no extent to which we could sing her praises.
Valentines sweethearts for 68 years, and having just celebrated their 61st anniversary on February 4th, Wade and Neldas commitment to their marriage was a good model to all, even with its ups and downs, it still resulted in their mutual increasing love to the end.
