Leon Harrison Lewis


Leon Harrison Lewis born January 3, 1943 to Richard and Ila Lewis, passed peacefully surrounded by his family Monday, September 2, 2019 in Jacksonville. He was 76 years old.
A funeral service is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Pastor Mike Miller, Rev. Steve Edwards and Tim Lovelady will officiate. Mr. Lewis will be laid to rest at Larissa Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the Lewis family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church and loved his Sunday school class, The Good Fellows. He retired from Texas Utilities Mining Co. in 1998 and was the owner of Lewis Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Richard Lewis and wife Mary, Ella Ree Hardy and husband Arthur, and Clara Bell Stanley and husband Clarence.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, Ethel Stover Lewis; son, Robert Lewis and wife Lisa; daughter, Melissa Rawlinson and husband Brad. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brayden Rawlinson and wife Allison, Mitch Lewis, Kenzee Rawlinson, Ellie Lewis and a great-granddaughter, Sunni Rawlinson.
Pallbearers will be Keith Sunday, Paul Laney, Tim Tipton, Tony Bolton, Jimmy Dyess and Patrick Reagan. Honorary pallbearers are the Good Fellows Sunday School class.
