K.J.'s Story

K.J. Fry was born on April 25, 1919 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Frank and Willie Fry. He joined Larissa CME Church at an early age and he loved to attend Sunday School. K.J. was an astounding singer and a very talented baseball player in his younger years. In his later years, K. J. Fry attended The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Splendora, Texas, were he was also baptized under the leadership of Brother Ray Dickerson and Sister Matter Dickerson.
He met and married Marceil Johnson on October 12, 1946 in Jacksonville, Texas, and within the union of 72 years, nine children were born with three dying in infancy.
K.J. entered the military on January 14, 1942 as a World War II Army Veteran. He was honorably discharged on December 13, 1945 due to being injured while serving during a tour in Alaska. K.J. earned the rank of Sergeant and Infantry Leader with recognized skills as a Marksman Rifle Sharpshooter. He received numerous awards, which included Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He also received ratings of "Excellent" Character and "Very Good" Efficiency as a solder.
K.J. Fry was preceded in death by two sons, David Louis Fry and Willie J. Fry. Left to mourn his passing and rejoice in precious memories are 4 children Kay Frances Fry Miller of Jacksonville, Texas, Mattie Delois Fry Dickerson (Ray) of Splendora, Texas, Paul Guinn Fry (Andrea) of Hockley, Texas, and Sandra Elizabeth Fry of Jacksonville, Texas. A total of 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
