A funeral service for Junior "J.C." Thomas, age 83, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Bro. Donny Saddler and Bro. Fred Morrow will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Tecula Cemetery near Jacksonville.
Mr. Thomas passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Jacksonville.
J.C. was born April 29, 1934 in Alba, Texas.
He was a loving husband, father, and Papa. J.C. drove a truck most of his life and was also a retired pastor. He was a member of Craft Baptist Church and enjoyed raising cattle.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Thomas; mother and stepfather, Plumer and Jesse Pearce; wife, Lanette Thomas; a son, Glenn Thomas; and brothers, Wayne Thomas, Jerry Pearce and Dorsey Pearce.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Troy Thomas of Bentonville, Arkansas, Darell Thomas and wife Sherry of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law, Linda Thomas of Jacksonville; sisters, Edith Marcelina and husband Gerard of Garland, Glenda Mewbourn and husband Avery of Mineola, Patsy Williams and husband Mike of Greenville; brothers, Lyn Thomas and wife Laura of Houston, and Bobby Pearce of New Boston. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brad Thomas and wife Mandy, Dalton Thomas, and Crystal Franklin; great-grandchildren, Avery Thomas and Grady Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Thomas, Darell Thomas, Dalton Thomas, David Mize, Scott Alexander, Chad Galyean. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Galyean, Weldon, Lightsey and Ebbie Burnitt.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, June 10, 2017 and friends are cordially invited to visit with J.C.'s family from 5 to 7 o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
