Funeral services for Johnny Work, age 63, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Larry Barker officiating. Interment will be at Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Mr. Work passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 in Jacksonville. He was born January 4, 1953 in Jacksonville to John and Mable (Kinney) Work. Mr. Work was employed as a welder in the construction industry. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and played on the Jacksonville City Softball League. He loved hunting and fishing. Johnny was a beloved member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lonnie, Micky, and Ricky Work; a sister, Lucille Work; and a cousin, Rodger Kinney. Survivors include his wife of forty years, Linda Work of Jacksonville; sons, Barry Gates and wife Charlene, Jimmy Work, Brian Work and wife Jodie, K.C. Hammons and wife Shelly, and Kenneth Work, all of Jacksonville; a daughter, Kim Jones and husband Cary of Jacksonville; sisters, Carolyn Whitley and husband Junior of Maydelle, and Criss Whitley and husband James of Kingston, OK; 19 grandchildren, April, Autumn, Logan, Hunter, Alex, Alyssa, Winter, Mason, Audrey, Sidney, Austin, Lance, Colby, Erin, Hailey, Caleb, Preston, Karsyn, and Tanner; four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Angel, Brayden, and Riley; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Barry Gates, Jimmy Work, Brian Work, K.C. Hammons, Kenneth Work, Randy Moorehead, Scott Ellis, and Darrell Dement. Honorary pallbearers will be Dentson Taylor, Paul Epperson, Allen Reeves, Cary Jones, and Roy Cavazoz. Visitation will begin on Monday, January 18, 2016 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
