On March 10, 2016, John Timothy "Tim" Lewis left this earth for the heavenly one. He was born in Jacksonville, Texas on October 29, 1939, to Alice Elois Adams and John Telephus Lewis.
He was raised in an educated banker's family and attended the First Presbyterian church.
He was an Eagle Scout with God and Country Award. His education began at Jacksonville High School, three years at TCU and transferred to the University of Texas at Austin for graduate work. After serving in college in ROTC, he was a Lieutenant U.S. Army Artillery as a Battery Executive Officer at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
After the service, he returned to University of Texas to resume further graduate studies. He taught English Literature and poetry with a specialty in Renaissance Literature at Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas.
He left the University and worked for a company out of Pennsylvania and began building trade schools in Kansas and Texas; this is how he came to San Antonio.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and led a Bible study in the home group.
This was the third time in various cities he had served as a deacon. His favorite activity was the Men's Bible Breakfast and Bible Study - he loved the fellowship. Above all, he was a loving husband (married 55 years), and father to his daughter.
