CUSHING - Funeral services for Joe Wayne Self, 66, of Jacksonville will be Monday February 20th at 11am at the Dickie Allen funeral home chapel. Visitation will be held Sunday night from 4-8pm at the funeral home. There is no graveside scheduled. Mr. Self died Friday in Nacogdoches. He was born May 3rd, 1950 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Marlin D. and Ruth Whitaker Self. He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew Jimmy Tullis. Mr. Self resided in Jacksonville for 44 years. During that time He served as a peace officer for the City of Jacksonville, Cherokee County Sheriffs Dept., and the Cherokee County Constables office. He was a Master Peace Officer. His career spanned 34 years and 8 months. He is survived by his Son Toby Wane Self of Cushing, Texas, Daughter and Son-in-law Katrina D'Ann Self and Dee "Tuff" Randall of Cushing, Texas, Brother and Sister-in-law Jerry Wayne and Diane Self of Henderson, Texas, Sister and Brother-in-law Linda and Buddy Gillman of Lake Murvaul, Texas, Grandchildren Brandon Chandler Matlock and Ethan Bonner Self and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Womack, Bobby Tullis, Mike Pyers, Rodney Whitaker, Danny Garrett, Mavis Moore, and Mitchell Willis.
