Joan Bush Collins

Events

Joan Bush Collins passed away peacefully on March 13, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 71 after fighting cancer for over 5 years.
Joan is survived by her husband Greg and their two children, Cara and Chase.
Joan was born in Jacksonville, Texas to Bill & Mildred Bush. She graduated from Jacksonville High where she played basketball. She then went on to attend Lon Morris College and Texas Tech University where she graduated with a BBA in Advertising.
While her children were in school, Joan was a proud volunteer and fund raiser for each of her children's schools. She even made time to coach boys' youth basketball at the YMCA in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Maybe even received one or two Technical fouls.
After their children went off to college, Greg and Joan moved to The Woodlands, Texas, where she became a Realtor/Broker. When her husband retired, they moved to Spring Branch, Texas (north of San Antonio) where she designed and built the home of her dreams on the Guadalupe River.
The family will host a small private ceremony in their house. Later this summer her ashes will be placed in Jacksonville by her father and mother (Bill and Mildred Bush) and her sister (Patricia Bush Harris).

Joan along with Greg were wonderful neighbors in The Woodlands, TX. I enjoyed her sense of humor and her welcoming personality. So glad my husband, Zip and I were able to see their beautiful home. Sending prayers for their sweet family.

With my Sister Cuz and I both being born in Jacksonville and all the happy memories from there, it is really nice to know she and Tricia Lee will be going back home together. Words always seem to fail me at times like this, but please know we are always here for each of you. She is missed immensely.
With love and deepest sorrow...

My husband’s grandparents lived in Jacksonville and I thought it was a special town How appropriate that Joan will be laid to rest there. Her spirit will remain with the many friends who loved her. So glad I got to see the perfect home that she and Greg created. She will be truly missed.
